The Texas & Eastern Railroad (reporting mark?TERR) is a short-line freight railroad operating in eastern Texas, primarily between Palestine and Rusk, Texas, on about 30 miles of track leased from the Texas State Railroad Authority. It connects with the Union Pacific Railroad at Palestine and serves Anderson and Cherokee counties, hauling commodities such as construction aggregates, industrial products, and chemicals, and offering services like railcar storage and transloading. Originally part of the historic Texas State Railroad freight line founded in 1881, it now functions as a modern common-carrier freight route under Jaguar Transport Holdings’ operation while the associated heritage tourist trains continue under the Texas State Railroad name.
