The Charlotte Western Railroad (CER) is a short-line freight railroad operating approximately 14 miles of track between Gastonia and Mount Holly, North Carolina, serving the greater Charlotte metro area. Launched in 2022, the railroad is operated by Jaguar Transport Holdings. Charlotte Western provides local rail service, railcar storage, and transloading capabilities, with direct interchange access to both Norfolk Southern and CSX, giving customers optionality to major Class I networks. The railroad was reactivated to support regional economic development and industrial growth, with a focus on flexible, customer-driven freight solutions.
